faith
Will I live forever?
They say I will,
immortal and healed.
“The Bible tells me so.”
Issued a perfect body.
None of the scars
None of the hurts
“May I please have fashion frames?
I know my eyes are perfect, now,
but,
I don’t look like me without my glasses on.”
A brand-spankin’ new corpus
hot off the divine fabrication floor.
Without these stress-bitten cuticles.
Hangnails, and the symmetrical scars I got
from the broken end of a cheap
college dorm broom.
Who will that man be?
that supposed “me”
who doesn’t have my hands?
