In the Margins
of My Day
Evening shadows itching
like scratching fingers.
Lazy breezes dissolving into stillness.
The wringing sweat just a memory
midst the growing goosebumps.
Simply, proudly, expressionless,
they reach into cool autumn days.
Maples mourn at half mast,
red leaves like wrinkled palms
waving goodbye.
Ann Grogan is a joyful octogenarian, pianophile, and retired lawyer who lives in San Francisco, CA. Her writing promotes the unequivocal permission to pursue one’s passions at any age.
